Nellie Rua's

Christopher Rutledge reopened the bar at 12 Ann Street as Nellie Rua's in October 2024, keeping a traditional front bar alongside a restaurant, an enclosed beer garden, and screens for major sporting fixtures. The drinks list runs to a range of local craft beers, including Rathlin Red Ale from the island across the Sound, plus a wider selection of spirits and wines rather than a single tied brand. Weekend evenings bring live music, and the kitchen serves fish and chips, a McKay's sirloin steak, and seafood dishes including trout and hake through the day. The pub sits in the middle of Ballycastle, close to the harbour and the town's traditional music trail.
