George Wallace came out of the army in 1949 and started with two hives at Quince Cottage; his grandson Ian runs the farm now, third generation, from the purpose-built South Molton site the family opened in 2019. The bees are the whole attraction: a bee shed of viewing hives, the honey factory at work, an hour-with-the-bees experience running April to September, with the Nectary restaurant, a farm shop full of the results and an indoor play hive for small children. Seventy-five years of the same family keeping bees on the southern edge of Exmoor — the anniversary was marked in 2025.
