Read on Sea sits at 28 Broadway in Leigh-on-Sea, opened by Manuel in December 2023 to fill a gap in the town for an independent bookshop. Shelves of new titles and classics share the room with a small bar serving wine, beer, and coffee, so browsing can run alongside a drink in the afternoon or evening. A children's corner sits at the back of the shop, with readings aimed at younger visitors on Sunday mornings. The shop also runs evening events, including author talks, poetry readings, and a book club. It opens Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm, Saturday to 6pm, and Sunday from 10am to 2pm.
