Richfield Garden Centre occupies a site on Richfield Avenue in Reading, between the Rivermead Leisure Complex and the riverside land used for the Reading Festival. The business states over 100 years of growing history on the site and operates as an independent, family-run garden centre rather than a branch of a national chain. Stock ranges from shrubs, climbers, topiary and olive and fruit trees through to indoor houseplants, with a separate section for pots, planters, urns and garden statuary. A furniture and landscaping department sells compost, topsoil and bark alongside hanging baskets and seasonal bedding plants. The centre offers a delivery service, typically within 48 hours, and sells gift cards for use in store. It closes for the whole of January each year and otherwise trades daily, with hours extending into the evening during spring and summer. Free customer parking is available at the adjoining Rivermead car park, a 15-minute walk from Reading town centre.
