Roberts &Speight

Roberts & Speight has traded as a wine merchant and delicatessen on Norwood since 1979, and remains under the ownership of the Roberts family, headed by John Roberts. The shop divides into a wine department, organised by country, grape and sweetness, and a deli counter selling artisan cheeses, cured and cooked meats and Yorkshire produce alongside oils, condiments and hand-rolled cigars. Staff run tastings and offer food-matching advice for customers planning menus, and the shop lends glassware free of charge for functions rather than requiring a deposit. A discount scale applies to case purchases, and the business builds bespoke hampers sent across the UK and into Europe. It also lets a holiday cottage on nearby Cross Street. The current Norwood shopfront has housed the delicatessen counter for some years, with the wine side of the business trading in Beverley longer still.
