The Pipe and Glass Inn stands at the edge of South Dalton, a small estate village a few miles north of Beverley, and holds one Michelin star under chef James Mackenzie, who runs it with his wife Kate. The bar end operates as a working pub with real ales and casual food, kept separate from the tasting menu served in the dining room behind it. Overnight guests stay in garden rooms attached to the main building or in rooms at the nearby Old Lambing Yard, both run as part of the same business. The inn also takes private dining bookings for small groups. It sits back from the road behind a low hedge, with outdoor tables set in the garden for warmer months. The Mackenzies took on the inn together, building the food side around Kate's front-of-house experience and James's professional kitchen background.
