Ye Olde House Bar occupies 5 Scale Lane in Hull's Old Town, in a building believed to be the oldest dwelling in the city, with timber framing dated to around 1450. Two siblings run the pub as an independent freehouse, pouring a rotating range that includes Guinness, Blue Moon, Theakston Best Bitter, Sharp's Atlantic Pale Ale, Salt Jute Ale and Aspall Cider. The upstairs room keeps original beams that predate the Reformation, and the building also holds a pool room and space for private hire. The bar opens from midday but does not serve alcohol before noon. Trading hours run Monday 2pm to 8pm, Tuesday to Thursday 2pm to 11pm, Friday from 2pm, Saturday from noon and Sunday noon to 8pm. Scale Lane sits between the River Hull and the Old Town's cluster of independent pubs, and the building's age and listed status make it a fixture on local heritage walks as well as an evening drinking spot.
