Hotham's Distillery

Hotham's Distillery occupies 55 Whitefriargate in Hull's Old Town, founded in 2017 by Emma and Simon Pownall as a micro-distillery producing small-batch gin and rum. The distillery runs gin school and rum school sessions in which visitors learn the history of the spirits and the botanicals used, then distil and bottle their own gin or rum to take home. Outside class times, the shop sells Hotham's own gin, vodka and rum alongside gift sets and vouchers, and takes on bespoke recipe commissions for private groups, weddings and corporate events. Whitefriargate runs through the Old Town's shopping quarter, and the still is visible from the shop floor during production runs. The business remains independently owned and run day to day by its two founders.
