The Hop & Vine occupies the cellar of a Georgian terrace on Albion Street, one of the few such terraces left standing in Hull city centre, and is Grade II listed. It was a wine bar before switching to cask ale and cider, and the single below-ground room is small enough that regulars often stand rather than sit. Four changing cask ales are drawn from independent breweries around Britain, deliberately excluding national brewers, with recent guests including Acorn, Great Newsome and Wishbone; cheese and biscuits are kept behind the bar as the only food on offer. It has appeared in the Good Beer Guide continuously since 2009 and was named local CAMRA Pub of the Year for three years running, 2022 to 2024. The pub runs as a free house, with the freehold held privately rather than by a brewery or pub company.
