The Five Bells is a thatched, Grade II listed free house on Wood Street in Royal Wootton Bassett, recorded as trading before 1841 and extended into the adjoining cottage in 1921. The stone building keeps its open fire and seven handpumps, rotating cask ales alongside home-cooked meals and a Sunday roast. It has been named local CAMRA Pub of the Year for four consecutive years and has appeared in the Good Beer Guide every year since 2002. Reed Bros of Marlborough owned the pub in 1879, before Stroud Brewery acquired it in 1957; it now trades as a free house rather than under a brewery tie. Doors open from midday, with food served at lunch and again in the evening through the week.
