The Garden Room,Halls Garden Centre

The Garden Room occupies part of Halls Garden Centre on Chester Road in New Oscott, on the Sutton Coldfield fringe. The centre is run by the Halls family, who added an adjoining aquatics centre in 1997. The café serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea under a two-tier terrace overlooking the plant houses, with cakes baked on site and pots of tea or coffee brought to the table. The room is licensed, and afternoon-tea bookings for larger groups require a deposit. Parking and wifi are free across the site. Trade here is mostly gardeners and aquarium keepers passing through rather than café-only visitors, and the kitchen keeps to garden-centre hours, taking its last food orders three-quarters of an hour before closing at four.
