Lenny and Mike Henry converted a former music shop on Mill Lane into the Lazy Landlord in December 2014, the first micropub to open on the Wirral. Joe Bryan, who started behind the bar in 2016, took over the business in 2024 and has kept the original format intact: no televisions, no fruit machines, no jukebox, just cask ale, cider and conversation across one small room. The shelves are lined with breweriana and local artwork, and a small book exchange sits by the door. It won Wirral CAMRA Pub of the Year three years running, from 2017 to 2019, on a beer list that rotates through independent breweries rather than sticking to a fixed range. A free house tied to no single brewery, it keeps short hours, afternoons and evenings only, with nothing served past half past ten.
