The Old Green Tree stands at 12 Green Street in a Grade II listed building begun in 1716, its three oak-panelled rooms including a genuine snug at the front, a narrow drinking lobby and a back bar. Tim Bethune has held the lease since 2014, keeping the pub free of music and fruit machines and pouring a house bitter, Green Tree, brewed specially by Blindman's Brewery in Somerset, alongside up to three guest ales from other local microbreweries, a farmhouse cider and a short list of Belgian bottles. The Good Pub Guide named it UK City Pub of the Year in both 2005 and 2008, and the Daily Telegraph called it Somerset's Pub of the Year for 2024. It is on CAMRA's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors and keeps to food-free opening hours built around conversation over the bar.
