The Parlour Bar& Restaurant

The Parlour Bar & Restaurant occupies 4 Castle Place in Newtownards, a building dating to 1735 that traded for generations as the Old Cross Inn before its former owners renamed it The Parlour in March 2012. Derek Speers and Billy Clarke took over the single-site bar and restaurant in April 2023, continuing a long run of hospitality on the same corner premises. An open fire and small, low-ceilinged rooms give the interior an intimate, old-fashioned character, and the kitchen serves lunch and dinner alongside a full bar. The business won the Best Licensee award at the 2014 Ards Business Awards. It remains one Newtownards address rather than a group, trading under the name it has carried since the 2012 rebrand.
