Twin brothers Alex and Oliver Burnside reopened the Plough & Sail in April 2012, in the building that stands at the entrance to Snape Maltings. Suffolk CAMRA records trace the pub's licence back to 1813, with the earliest named landlord, John Burrows, recorded in an 1805 Ipswich Journal advertisement. The pub is a free house, and Oliver cooks a menu built around seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, served across a restaurant room, an older dog-friendly bar, a snug and a balcony, with further seating in the courtyard and at the front. Draught lagers, ales and a wine list are served alongside the food. The Burnsides also run the Regatta Restaurant in Aldeburgh.
