Claire's House

Claire's House is a pottery studio and shop run by Claire Douglas, a former art teacher at King Edward VI School in Bury St Edmunds, who launched the business in December 2022 in Churchgate Street before moving to larger premises on the Barton Road Trading Estate in September 2024. The new studio spans some 2,500 square feet and holds wheel-throwing and hand-building classes, six-week courses, drop-in sessions and children's parties, alongside open-studio access for members. The attached shop sells Douglas's own thrown and hand-built ceramics as well as work by other local makers based across Suffolk. Techniques taught include mono-printing onto leather-hard clay and sticker-resist glazing. The studio fires its own kiln on site and is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.
