The Terrace Rooms & Wine occupies St Augustine Villa, a house built in the 1840s as a home for Ventnor's rector, on the seafront at the first curve of The Cascades. The building has operated as a guesthouse, lodge or hotel for more than 150 years and is associated with visits from the Russian writer Aleksandr Herzen. Tom and Ashley bought the villa and reopened it in 2021 as a six-room boutique guesthouse built around a wine shop stocking more than 300 bottles, with tastings held daily between 11am and 5pm and a four-course breakfast included for guests. Tom, recognised in 2025 as the UK's 12th-best sommelier by Harpers Wine & Spirits, leads evening wine tastings open to residents and passing visitors alike. The guesthouse has won the Good Hotel Guide's Caesar Award for Best UK B&B and been named Decanter's Best UK Wine Hotel, and appeared in The Times' 100 Best Places to Stay in 2024 and 2025.
