Tregear Pottery is a working ceramics studio and shop on the High Street in Niton, run by Neil Tregear, who trained in San Francisco, London and Japan before setting up on the Isle of Wight in 2004. The studio throws stoneware using white clay bodies, finished with slips and glazes developed in-house over two decades of testing, producing mugs, bowls, jugs, vases and lamp bases sold directly from the shop. All the tableware is dishwasher- and microwave-safe, made for daily use rather than display. The workshop sits behind the retail counter, so visitors can see pieces being thrown and glazed on the days Neil and his small team are working. Opening hours run Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, with a lunch closure between 1pm and 2pm. Tregear Pottery supplies its own shop rather than wholesaling widely, making the Niton premises the main way to buy the work in person.
