Turners Fishponds reopened on Fishponds Road in July 2026, days after the Grounded cafe chain that had run the site for years shut down without warning across its Bristol and Wiltshire branches. Ben Turner, who had managed the Fishponds branch for two and a half years, took over the lease and reopened under his own name with most of the same staff behind the counter, describing the new venture simply as independent. The cafe bar continues serving coffee, food and beer through the day and into the evening, with a slow remodelling under way and a new keg deal with Meantime Brewery replacing the old supply arrangement. The kitchen leans on the experience of its Italian head chef for the food side, and there are plans to build a small stage for live music.
