Thomas and Marie Baldwin opened Twice Told Tales on Dunfermline High Street on 30 January 2026, close to the Abbey, billing it as Fife's only secondhand bookshop and café. Stock runs from popular paperbacks to rare and antiquarian titles, plus new books from local authors and handmade items from regional makers. A children's section has its own drawing table and a train set, and dogs are welcome throughout. The café side serves fair-trade coffee, tea, cold drinks and baked goods alongside the shelves. A mural of a book-hoarding dragon named Gertrude covers one wall, and regulars have taken to pointing out a clock that keeps its own idea of the time. It is a recent addition to the High Street rather than a long-established one, filling a gap in Dunfermline's book trade.
