Windmill Hill CityFarm Shop

Windmill Hill City Farm was founded in 1976 when local residents cleared a derelict stretch of land at the bottom of Windmill Hill and turned it into a working city farm. Its farm shop on Philip Street operates as part of the registered charity, selling seasonal fruit and vegetables, eggs from the farm's own hens, and store-cupboard goods such as pasta and sauces chosen for low environmental impact. Proceeds support the upkeep of the farm's animals, gardens and community programmes rather than private owners. The shop trades from a single site alongside the farm's cafe and children's nursery, open seven days a week including bank holidays. Bread and local dairy sit beside produce grown metres away in the farm's own beds, making the shop a working extension of the land it stands on.
