Woollacotts of Mumbles has traded as a family butcher for around 75 years, rearing its own beef on a farm at Murton a short drive from the shop. The counter carries lamb, poultry and game alongside burgers, sausages and cured bacon made on site, plus bread, milk and continental groceries for one-stop shopping. Staff describe being involved in every stage of production, from raising livestock through to butchering and packing the final cuts, rather than buying in ready-prepared meat. Weekly specials include handmade faggots, a dish increasingly hard to find on Swansea high streets. The Newton shop draws a mix of Mumbles regulars and visitors stocking up before heading onto the Gower coast, and a small wine selection along the back wall is a quieter part of the business worth a look.
