Yorkshire Fisheries has traded from Topping Street in Blackpool since 1907, making it the town's oldest chip shop, and has stayed in the same extended family since George and Val Vasiliou bought it in 1989. Maria and her husband Pavlos took over from George's niece and her husband in 2005 and still run the shop today. Haddock arrives fresh daily while the cod is frozen at sea and filleted on site, and potatoes are peeled fresh each day rather than bought pre-cut. The dining room has since been refurbished, and the shop offers dine-in, takeaway and delivery rather than takeaway only. Multi-generational families are a fixture among the regulars, with grandparents returning alongside grandchildren years after their own first visit. The shop trades Monday to Saturday and sources palm oil through audited suppliers.
