Antony Daly runs 586 Records from a first-floor unit inside the Atlas NE building on Gateshead High Street, having moved the shop across the river from Pilgrim Street in Newcastle in September 2021. The stock runs to more than 16,000 records, second-hand and new, weighted towards soul, funk, disco, house, techno, punk and jazz, with a list of genres the shop deliberately does not stock, including happy hardcore and Spanish trance. Daly cleans vinyl on request for a small per-record fee, buys in unwanted collections, and takes items on consignment for people wanting to sell through the shop rather than to it. Entry is via the rear of the building, up one flight of stairs.
