Jesus Tavizon Sosa, known locally as Chucho, runs this taco stand on Shields Road with Emma. Chucho grew up in Veracruz on Mexico's Gulf coast and has lived in Newcastle for 15 years, trading at street food markets and festivals for several years before settling into this permanent site in 2017. Corn tortillas are pressed and cooked by hand on site rather than bought in, and the rotating menu runs to around six taco fillings including alambre, chorizo and rellena, served with a scotch bonnet sauce. The room holds five stools and works on a smash-and-grab basis rather than table service, with most trade taken away. Chucho's sits at the top end of Shields Road among Byker's cluster of independent food shops.
