Adrian McColgan runs his pottery studio from a home workshop on Woodland Avenue in Lisburn, hand-throwing functional tableware finished with glazes that are left to speak for themselves rather than heavily decorated. Lessons run for three hours, with each student working at their own wheel to make three pots to take home, alongside kids' parties and bespoke commissions such as memorial pieces made to order. Gift vouchers are sold with no expiry date. McColgan sells his cups, bowls and jugs directly from the studio, taking custom orders for tableware sets as well as one-off pieces. Classes run on Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 9pm and Saturday mornings from 9.30am to 4.30pm, bookable by phone, WhatsApp or through his website. The studio remains a one-man operation rather than a franchised chain of paint-your-own or wheel-throwing outlets found in larger towns.
