Arthur Rackham Emporia is an independent fine wine and spirits merchant on the London Road in Burpham, on the edge of Guildford. Arthur Rackham founded the business in the 1950s as a chain of London off-licences, which grew to fifteen branches under his son James before being consolidated into this single Guildford shop in the 1990s. The shop now carries around 550 wines alongside spirits, liqueurs, beers and ciders, chosen with food pairing in mind rather than volume. It runs tastings, wine courses and supper events through the year, and has been named UK Spirit Merchant of the Year and shortlisted for UK Independent Wine Merchant of the Year in national trade awards. It remains family run and independent of any wholesale or supermarket ownership.
