Bara Menyn is a small bakehouse down a side street off Cardigan's town centre, founded in 2015 by Jack Smylie Wild, who grew up in Ceredigion and returned after studying in Cardiff. Jack works alongside his wife Seren and his uncle Nick, producing slow-fermentation sourdough loaves, pizzas and baked goods using local, seasonal ingredients. The bakehouse opens to the public only three days a week, Thursday to Saturday from midday, a schedule chosen deliberately to fit baking around family life. Its name means "bread and butter" in Welsh. Bara Menyn trades from a single site with no wholesale chain behind it, selling directly from the bakehouse counter rather than through a separate shopfront. The limited opening hours and small-batch approach have built a loyal local following in Cardigan, alongside passing trade from visitors to the town.
