Basement Beer was incorporated in 2019 and brews from premises at 32 Upper York Street in Stokes Croft, previously home to Croft Ales. Despite its name, the taproom is not located in a basement; the name carries over from the brewery's original site. Four keg lines pour an ever-changing selection of styles brewed on the premises, with cask and canned beer also supplied to bars and restaurants across Bristol. The taproom is small, seating a handful of drinkers around close-set tables, and runs a regular programme including a monthly quiz, a board-game evening and occasional live music. It operates from this single Stokes Croft address only, open Tuesday to Saturday. The brewing equipment sits behind the bar, visible to anyone ordering a pint of that week's cask offering.
