Paper Plane

Paper Plane is an independent gift shop on Gloucester Road, opened in 2014 as a co-operative of seven designer-makers selling their work under one roof. It's now run by maker Alice, who trades separately as Rolfe & Wills, together with her mother Sue, and stocks work from more than fifty local designers and makers. The range covers cards, jewellery, homewares, clothing, prints, stationery and children's items, with stock rotating as makers' ranges change. It occupies a single shop unit on the Gloucester Road stretch of independent traders in Bishopston. Nothing sold is imported wholesale from outside the local maker network, so the mix shifts with what's currently being produced. The shop has kept the same co-op format since opening, rather than moving to a single-brand model.
