Beacons Farm Shop, trading as the Welsh Venison Centre, has sold meat from Middlewood Farm at Bwlch, between Brecon and Crickhowell, since 1985. It is still run by the family that founded it, husband and wife Andrew and Elaine Morgan, and specialises in outdoor-reared venison alongside beef, lamb, pork and poultry raised on their own land or bought from trusted regional farms. Their twenty-one-day matured Welsh fillet steak is supplied to a handful of Michelin-starred restaurants. The shop also stocks bread, deli goods, cheese and gift hampers, and runs a small café with views over the Brecon Beacons where walkers can pick up a packed lunch before heading onto the hills. In summer the Morgans take a catering van to local festivals, including Hay Festival. The shop opens Tuesday to Saturday, 8am to 4.30pm, and closes on Sundays and Mondays.
