The Burnt Pig opened on Market Street in Ilkeston in May 2015, after its original owner bought the building outright rather than take on a lease, and it remains a freehold house today. The single-storey shop was originally part of a row of cottages, later a grocery and then a beer house dating back to the 1840s, and the pub now runs across three small interconnected rooms hung with pub memorabilia. Six real ales rotate on the bar alongside cider and continental bottled beers, with bar snacks limited to cheese, pork pies and the house pork scratchings. In 2025 CAMRA named it Midlands Pub of the Year. There is a real fire, table-top skittles, and no music or television anywhere in the building.
