Canterbury Glass Art occupies a shopfront on Palace Street in Canterbury, run since August 2013 by the husband-and-wife team of Tony Johns and Yuki Toyoda. Johns brings more than three decades of glassworking experience, while Toyoda trained for fifteen years before the pair opened the shop together. Working at benches visible from the street, they make wine glasses, bowls, plates and jewellery using flameworking and other hot-glass techniques, with new pieces added most weeks. The shop also runs lessons for visitors who want to try shaping glass themselves under supervision. Palace Street sits within Canterbury's King's Mile shopping area, close to the cathedral precincts.
