Carruthers &Kent

Claire Carruthers and Mo O'Toole founded Carruthers & Kent in Gosforth in 2010, several years after Claire first drew up the plan while working in wine retail at Oddbins around the corner from the site she would eventually take on. The shop stocks more than 500 wines alongside a deli counter of cheese and charcuterie, and converted into a full enoteca four years after opening, adding tasting tables where customers can drink what they buy. Carruthers & Kent has been named UK Independent Wine Merchant of the Year and reached the final of the International Wine Challenge Merchant Awards. The shop also hosts WSET courses through the Newcastle Local Wine School and runs its own tasting events.
