Castletown Distillery occupies a former coal house on Hick Street in Newcastle-under-Lyme, on the site of the birthplace of the mining engineer Lord John Cadman. Jay and Claire Davies founded the business in 2018 after searching for a gin from their home county on their travels and finding none, naming their still Lord Cadman in tribute to the building's history. The gin is distilled using water drawn from Chase Spring in Lichfield. The bar and shop stock the full Staffordshire Gin range alongside other spirits made under the Castletown name, including a chocolate liqueur and a spiced rum. On Saturday mornings, visitors can book a place in the distilling workshop and leave with a bottle of gin, rum or vodka they have made themselves. The bar and shop open Thursday to Sunday.
