Cross Farm Nursery has operated for more than 30 years off the A48 at Pentre Meyrick, between Cowbridge and Bridgend. It is run by Charlotte England, who describes it as a family business of keen gardeners. The nursery grows and sells a range of bedding plants, perennials, shrubs, climbers, succulents and fruit trees, alongside baby vegetable plants raised for the kitchen garden, and stocks pre-planted pots, hanging baskets and wall baskets through spring and summer. Manures and general growing supplies are sold on site too. The nursery is smaller than the area's garden centres, with plants grown and displayed in polytunnels rather than a retail warehouse, and staff give advice on what to plant and when. It stays open all year, drawing custom mainly from Cowbridge, Bridgend and the surrounding villages of the Vale rather than passing trade from the main road.
