Fowey River Gallery occupies a Georgian merchant's house on Fore Street, run by Mandi and Andrew Dellow since they founded it in November 2000. The two-storey space shows largely figurative work, paintings, ceramics, sculpture and jewellery, drawn mostly from Cornish artists alongside a smaller number from further afield. Four or five major exhibitions run through the year, supplemented by new pieces from regular exhibitors as they finish them. A ground-floor gift shop sells cards, homeware and books alongside the exhibited work, giving casual visitors something to buy without committing to a painting. The upper floor holds the bulk of the changing exhibition programme, reached by a narrow staircase typical of the building's age. Andrew and Mandi still select and hang every show themselves rather than delegating to outside curators.
