Goldmark Gallery occupies 14 Orange Street in Uppingham, where Mike Goldmark, formerly a designer of kipper ties in 1960s London, opened a second-hand bookshop in the early 1970s before taking sole ownership and moving to the Orange Street site in 1974. Paintings, prints, sculpture and studio ceramics gradually replaced the books, with the first gallery wing added in 1985; the gallery marked fifty years on the site in the mid-2020s. It now holds more than 50,000 works, representing the estates of twentieth-century artists alongside living painters and potters from Britain, the United States, Japan and Korea, and includes an adjoining Pot Shop and the Goldmark Atelier print studio. All of this is housed within the same Uppingham site, with no branches opened elsewhere.
