The Grainstore Brewery occupies a derelict Victorian grain warehouse beside Oakham railway station, converted into a working brewery when Tony Davis, formerly head brewer at Ruddles, and Mike Davies founded the operation in 1994. Brewing began on a 15-barrel plant months after the brewery tap opened that September, and the business now supplies more than 200 outlets. Tony's son Will Davis runs the brewery today with partner Peter Atkinson. The tap room serves the brewery's own cask ales alongside food and has won the Good Pub Guide's Own Brew Pub of the Year four times. Rutland's beer festival, held on site every year since 1999, and an autumn Cider & Sausage Festival both take place at the brewery. Tours run by advance booking only.
