Marwood Hill Gardens is a 20-acre private garden near Barnstaple, developed from rough pasture by Dr Jimmy Smart from 1949 onward and still run independently today. Spread across three linked lakes, it holds National Collections of astilbes and Japanese iris, alongside a plant centre and tea room open to visitors.
