Menai Strait Cruises runs pleasure trips from the Slate Quay at Caernarfon harbour aboard the Queen of the Sea, a vessel built in 1937 and licensed to carry 92 passengers. The business has been in the Jones family since the 1940s, with Emrys Jones the sixth generation of ship pilots to work these waters. The standard 45-minute sailing follows the southern end of the Menai Strait past Caernarfon Castle, Abermenai Point and Foryd Bay, with views toward Llanddwyn Island, Anglesey and the mountains of Eryri; a longer two-hour cruise reaches the Britannia and Menai Suspension bridges. Sailings run roughly hourly from late morning between June and the end of October, adjusted for tide and weather. No advance booking is taken; tickets are bought at the quayside before each departure.
