The Norris Museum stands on the Broadway in St Ives and holds the local history collection of Huntingdonshire. It opened in 1933 to house material gathered over decades by Herbert Norris, a St Ives-born amateur historian who bequeathed his collection to the town on his death in 1931. The museum now holds around 33,000 objects, including books, documents, photographs, prints and paintings relating to the history of the county, alongside displays on the area's fenland landscape and river trade. It is run as an independent local charity rather than as part of a wider museum group, with a team of volunteers supporting workshops for schools and community groups. Admission is free. The museum's library also holds historic newspapers, manuscripts and photographs that researchers can access by request.
