Dan Inglis started Northern Edge as a small roastery in Spittal in 2014, moving to a Ramparts Business Park warehouse in 2018 before settling on Silver Street in Berwick-upon-Tweed. A 12kg Probat roaster turns fully traceable arabica beans into small batches, many named after Berwick's own history, among them a house blend called Jimmy Strength. The Silver Street site combines the roastery with a coffee house, and beans are also sold to independent cafes and shops around the region. The family-run business has since opened a second, smaller outlet on the town's high street.
