The Amble Butcher has traded from Queen Street since 2009, next door to the Dock pub in the harbour town of Amble. The family-run shop sources meat from Northumberland farms and cures its own bacon on the premises, alongside hand-made kebabs, burgers and sausages that have picked up regional awards. Its steak pies, sold under the name Lush Pies, are a fixture of the lunchtime trade for boatyard workers and walkers off the Coquet estuary path. Queen Street still holds two independent butchers and two bakers, unusual for a town this size. Staff cut meat to order rather than from a fixed list, and the counter takes bookings for Sunday joints and game in season.
