Number Eight

Number Eight sits on Torrington Street in Bideford, overlooking the River Torridge, where Joshua and Chloe run a small fine-dining room they opened together in 2017. Joshua cooks a single tasting menu that changes every month, drawing on produce from South West suppliers including scallops landed at nearby Appledore. The restaurant seats a limited number of covers across an intimate dining space, with Chloe running front of house. Service runs Wednesday to Saturday evenings only, and the couple built the business from scratch after working together in kitchens along the Cornish coast. Number Eight won Best Restaurant at the Trencherman's Awards in 2021, recognition for a kitchen run without a large brigade behind it.
