Path HeadWater Mill

The present mill dates from 1728 and replaced an earlier one recorded on the site in 1633. Trevor Underwood bought the derelict building from Gateshead Council in 1995 and restored it with his son Ben and a body of volunteers; the waterwheel turns again, and the grounds hold a wind pump and a ram pump. The mill is run by the Vale Mill Trust, a registered charity, with a volunteer tearoom pouring Pumphrey's coffee.
