Martha Gothorp casts real shells collected from the Northumberland coast into sterling silver at Salt & Co, the jewellery workshop and shop she opened on Amble harbour front in February 2022, having first sold pieces online from 2016. The shop's glass doors look out over Amble's Little Shore beach and harbour toward Warkworth Castle. Earring studs, necklaces, bracelets and rings are made behind the counter, with an entry-level range kept under £40. Gothorp won the North East's Young Entrepreneur Award in 2024 and works from a home studio as well as the harbourside shop, drawing on coastal walks with her dog for ideas.
