Silver Machine Records occupies a small unit inside The Avenue shopping arcade on Falkirk High Street, stocking vintage, rare and reissued vinyl from the nineteen-sixties and seventies. The racks run through psych, punk, new wave, prog and heavy rock, with crates of blues, soul and funk pressings for anyone digging past the front bins. Original pressings sit alongside later reissues, priced individually rather than in bulk lots, and the shop also buys in collections from sellers clearing out a relative's records. There is no café counter or seating area; browsing is the point, with staff on hand to talk through a pressing's condition or history before it changes hands. Stock turns over quickly, so a second visit rarely shows the same window display.
