The Bear Inn occupies a 17th-century former coaching inn on North Street in Wiveliscombe, on the edge of Exmoor. Millie and Jon Coward run the pub as part of their own small Black Bear Pub Group, which totals three houses. An on-site brewery, rebuilt from the ground up under head brewer Tom Davis, supplies the cask ales on the bar, including Pitchfork at 4.3 percent, a beer that came with the brewery's acquisition of the RCH ale stable from Nuttycombe Brewery. Rooms are available for overnight stays alongside the bar and restaurant trade. The pub opens from 9am to 11pm Sunday to Thursday and to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
