The Coronation Tap is a small cider house on Sion Place in Clifton, with documented history as a beerhouse dating to at least 1806, predating the nearby Clifton Suspension Bridge. Known to regulars as the Cori, it specialises in a small range of strong ciders, most notably its own Exhibition, traditionally poured in halves rather than pints given its strength. The interior is narrow, wood-panelled and largely unchanged in character, with barrels visible behind the bar and no fruit machines or television screens to distract from conversation. There is no kitchen; crisps and pork scratchings are the extent of the food offer. It draws a mixed crowd of students, cider connoisseurs and longtime locals, and remains one of the few surviving traditional cider houses trading in central Bristol under its original name.
